Note to Self: Hug Hollie April 20th, '09

Leann has a hard time remembering things. She leaves post-its for herself as helpful reminders. One evening I was sitting at her desk and decided I should leave her a cute reminder that said "Hug Hollie April 20th, '09". Lauren was in the room with me; I wrote one concerning her as well. Next thing we knew our sarcastic natures took over, and about 5 pads of post-its and over an hour of side-splitting laughter later we left Leann's desk looking... yellow. She came home the next day, and to our fortune she thought it was hilarious too. The post-its, over a week later, are still covering her desk. =D

It's in the Air

ICCAs are coming up. This will be my third and last time competing in them. With that in mind Divine is on my mind a lot and our songs are in my head all day long. Here are some of my favorite vids from this year (most are from one Friday show though. haha)

"Flightless Bird"

The term is wrapping up. It's getting intense, but the Lord is faithful. The great thing is that no matter how crazy school may be it will always come to an end. No matter how little sleep this week may allow, the weekend WILL come. It may just seem like it took longer to get here. The key to it all is perseverance, looking at the bright side always, and enjoying where you are at this point in your life. Oh, and never forget to LOVE the people around you. <3

Twilight the movie came out a few weeks ago. Girls in my house have managed to see it as many as three or four times. Impressive to say the least. I saw it at midnight. I had to. ;) I've been to SO many Harry Potter premieres with Jenna and Holly, not for myself, but because it seemed like a fun thing to look back on. Holls and Jenna are extremely into it, and I wanted to experience their excitement with them. This would be my first premiere I could go to where I had actually read the book with them before the movie came out. Exciting stuff. This is huge for me. Once school started I stopped reading, so the evening before it opened I busted out the book again. I read the last 150 pages just hours before the movie premiere. I snuck it into Divine rehearsal. Jenna would look over at me and ask where I was in the plot line. I'd tell her and she'd say something like "OH!! KEEP GOING!" I read two chapters out loud in the car to her as we drove to Eugene. She'd finished the book months ago, but loved listening. As the chapters got more intense my reading speed increased. The pages flew by. I read the last chapter in the theater about an hour before the movie started. haha. CUTTING IT CLOSE. The feeling of accomplishment was awesome though.

The book was good. I'll give them that. The last 150 pages were great. That's when the plot line really developed. I kind of grew impatient for it to come. Page 375 (or maybe 376) the book really kicks it up a notch. Before that it's more mystery and romance. Well, maybe 1 part mystery 3 parts romance. That's probably why the girls in my house are freaking out. It's pretty funny to watch. Men are now being compared to Edward Cullen.

The soundtrack to the movie is great. Check out "Flightless Bird" by Iron and Wine

*Photo of a gift at the white elephant gift exchange at our Red and Green Party. SO MUCH FUN! The girls especially loved this treasure. There was some fighting going on over this one. lol. The best part was Lauren, who thinks the obsession is as silly and hilarious as I do, opened the gift. AMAZING

A FAMILY AFFAIR

Today is the start of something new. Thanksgiving will be had with the extent of my new family.

I work today 'til 4, am picking up Saleh, and then we're driving to the Eug. I took the shift because of holiday pay. After being in LA for an entire weekend last month for Papa's stuff I kind of need to get a few more hours. Tips should be great too. Besides that I'll get home in time for a nice dinner and the drive always relaxes me. I'll drop Saleh off with his friends somewhere in North Eugene. I was supposed to work 'til 3, but the hours kind of changed. I'm ok with that. A little bummed, but not that bad. My mom was like "OH MAN. I'll have to make the potatoes now." That's my job every year because they're my fav and I'm good at it. ;)

So, today Thanksgiving will consist of me, Mom, Austin, and the new additions of Gery, Tim, and Andrew. Garrett wont be in from Hawaii 'til mid December. Mom and Gery aren't getting married 'til next year, but we're starting to be a family now. Normally my mom invites all of her friends and their fams over for one giant holiday. This year it's mellow. I'm more than ok with change. I love these guys and I'm so happy for my mom. She's happy and I'm thankful.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Details in the Fabric

by. Jason Mraz feat. James Morrison

Calm down.
Deep breaths.
And get yourself dressed instead
of running around
and pulling all your threads and
breaking yourself up

If it's a broken part, replace it,
but if it's a broken arm then brace it.
If it's a broken heart then face it.

And hold your own,
know your name,
and go your own way.

And everything will be fine.
Everything will be fine.

Hang on.
Help is on the way.
Stay strong.
I'm doing everything.

Hold your own,
know your name,
and go your own way.
Hold your own,
know your name,
and go your own way.

And everything, everything will be fine.
Everything.

Are the details in the fabric
Are the things that make you panic
Are your thoughts results of static cling?

Are the things that make you blow
Hell, no reason, go on and scream
If you're shocked it's just the fault
of faulty manufacturing

Yeah everything will be fine
Everything in no time at all
Everything...

The beginning of the end. This is really it...

An e-mail from my aunt regarding my grandpa:

Hi Everyone,
Here's the news for the day. I just signed the papers for Hospice. The woman who came out was very nice and their services sound awesome. I think Dad will now be able to have his way.
So now let's all pray that he goes quickly and in peace.
Love to all of you,
Faith
